Workshops - John Deas Photography

Workshops

Workshops have a single goal - to make you a more confident and capable outdoor photographer. We hope to achieve this through in-depth instruction, practical application, demonstrations, and a variety of other teaching techniques. We work hard, but we'll have fun.  I keep the instructor to participant ratio very low to ensure that you get the time and attention that you need to make this a successful and rewarding experience. Although I may carry my equipment with me in the field, I will never be behind the camera when there is even one person who needs assistance. Occasionally I may use my camera for demonstration purposes; but generally, demonstrating a technique is best when done on the camera of the person with the question or challenge. If there are occasions where I feel that I can increase the workshop size above the ideal ratio (one to six), I will bring on an additional instructor who I know to be equally qualified to conduct/lead workshops.

We could add others or eliminate some of these depending on conditions at the time.  The workshop fee is $525 with 1/2 of the fee due by August 18th and the balance due by September 18th. Spring in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Workshop - April 25-28, 2018 Limited to 6 attendees)

End of the Day
Liquid Gold
Early Morning in Cades Cove

I'm excited to announce my newest workshop that takes place in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the spring. Again, we'll spend our time on the north side of the Park, operating out of the city of Townsend, TN - a peaceful location near one of the main entrances to the Park and several key destinations for our workshop including Cades Cove, Little River, and the areas of Tremont, Greenbrier, and Metcalf Bottoms. We expect to benefit from spring rains and snow melt which should produce significant water flow for rivers, creeks, and streams. These conditions will also produce stunning wildflower blooms. We will use these wildflowers in a wide range of compositions including fine detail in macro shots. The workshop fee is $525 with 1/2 of the fee due by February 25, 2018 and the balance due by March 25, 2018. If you wish to pay by credit card, email me for an e-invoice from Square.  In Townsend, we'll be staying at the Talley Ho Inn located at 8314 TN-73, Townsend, TN. which is on the main road running through town. (865) 448-2465.  You should plan to be there before 6 pm on April 26th.  Please note that you are responsible for your own reservations directly with the Tally Ho Inn.
