Workshops

Workshops have a single goal - to make you a more confident and capable outdoor photographer. We will achieve this through in-depth instruction, practical application, demonstrations, and a variety of other teaching techniques. We work hard, but we'll have fun.  I keep the instructor to participant ratio very low to ensure that you get the time and attention that you need to make this a successful and rewarding experience. Although I may carry my equipment with me in the field, I will never be behind the camera when there is even one person who needs assistance. Occasionally I may use my camera for demonstration purposes; but generally, demonstrating a technique is best when done on the camera of the person with the question or challenge. If there are occasions where I feel that I can increase the workshop size above the ideal ratio (one to six), I will bring on an additional instructor who I know to be equally qualified to conduct/lead workshops.

Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse
Avalon Pier Sunrise
The Tree

This workshop takes place on the beautiful Outer Banks Islands of North Carolina - a narrow and scenic strip of land on the Atlantic Coast. Our main area of operation will stretch from the northern tip of the Outer Banks where we plan to photograph the Currituck Lighthouse to the southern reaches of the main island and the Hatteras Lighthouse - one of the most famous and recognizable lighthouses on the East Coast. We'll also visit Manteo, NC on Roanoke Island where the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse is located. We will do image reviews and critiques during the afternoon when the light is not the best for landscape photography. The workshop fee is $795 with 1/2 of the tuition due by July 10th and the balance due by August 10th. If you want to pay by credit card, please email me for an e-invoice. Our hotel in the OBX will be Days Inn Oceanfront Wright Brothers, 201 N Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.
